RESUMO

Bacterial spot is caused by Xanthomonas arboricola pv. pruni (Xap), which is considered a major problem in peach orchards. Products based on copper and antibiotics are used to control and the biocontrol is a new alternative. The objective was evaluate the antibiotic activity of the metabolite produced by Pseudomonas sp. cultivated, for 15 days (28 °C, 100 rpm-1) against Xap. The free-cells supernatant was fractionated with dichloromethane, concentrated and lyophilized. The same solvent was fractionated in vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC). The antibiotic activity of F3 fraction was tested as well as the effect on cell ultra-structural. In a greenhouse experiment plants were sprayed with F3 before or after Xap infection. The results showed changes in exopolysaccharides and cell morphology. The antibiotic activity of F3 (450 µg mL-1) was more effective against Xap. We conclude that the F3 showed antibiotic activity against Xap, in vitro and in plant experiments.
