RESUMO

According to A. Koyré, the two chief factors of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries scientific revolution are the rejection of the aristotelian distinction between heaven and Earth and the geometrization of nature. These closely connected factors put Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) in relief as one of the leading artificers of modern science. This thesis follows the author s rejection ofthe traditional dualistic cosmology. To reach its target, the thesis focuses on his telescopic observations and on the first day of the Dialogue concerning the two chief world systems (1632).
