RESUMO

The Paranã River basin, located in northeastern Goias and Southeastern Tocantins, comprises a great diversity of geo-morphologic complexes and vegetation types. Even with recent floristic and phytosociological studies, this region remains with an unknown flora and is threatened by farming activities. Asteraceae is one of the biggest families among the vascular plants and tribe Heliantheae is one of the most diverse and representativest tribes. The survey of tribe Heliantheae in the Paranã River basin was based mainly on herbarium collections. Taxonomic keys and comments for taxa were prepared. Twenty genera, forty-eight species, four varieties and a species complex (Calea teucriifolia group) have been recognized. Both wideranging taxa endemic to the Paranã River basin were observed. Some considerations have been made, considering that probably the number of taxa could be higher. This fact may be related to the lack of collections or environmental degradation caused by agricultural and other economic activities.
