RESUMO

In this dissertation, knowledge is seen as a strategic resource, which is transferred among companies that form part of territorial clusters. This transfer can only take place through interaction between the members of the cluster, or through support institutions, cooperation between companies, social relations, or other means. Within a territorial cluster, sharing of and/or access to the resources may be a source of competitive advantage for the participant companies over companies outside the cluster. This study therefore analyzes the transfer of knowledge between territorially clustered companies, and its relation to the competitiveness of the tourism destination of Urubici in Santa Catarina. The research is exploratory and descriptive in nature, involving interviews with forty-nine social players, including companies, entities and public administration. The following were analyzed: access to the resources, the importance of the support institutions, and how the transfer of knowledge occurs. The data collected were used as a descriptive statistical tool, through univariate analysis. The study concluded that: for the public entities and authorities, access to the resources is more evident. Private companies only have access through social relations with their competitors. It was also observed that the transfer of knowledge occurs in different ways, more specifically, through regular meetings among tourism companies. It also concludes that information exchange does take place among tourism companies within the cluster
