RESUMO
The following work analizes the Lebanese segment of an ethnically segmented commercial area; the Brazilian and Paraguaian frontier comprehended between the cities of Foz do Iguaçu and Cuidad Del Este. The main purpose of analysis is the stereotyping and distancing between Lebanese and other communities present in the same space. Initiatives of preservation and (re)construction of homeland traditions, such as the Muslin religion, the concern about maintaining identity before their second generation and reconaissance trips back to Lebanon are displayed. These themes give evidence to an attempt of search for common origin elements, what makes the constituion of a community possible. On the other hand, stereotypes spread by media vehicles and distorted perceptions from Brazilians about the Lebanese community and the Middle East conflicts, are foreign factors that help complete the analized group identity boundaries. Multiple relations with their homeland country and those with the the country where they reside are studied under the transnacionalism perspective. This work range over several subjects such as the ethnic segmentantion of a given space, international migration and transfrontiers.
