RESUMO

Demographic evidences has demonstrated an increase in the aged women population. Brazil, in 2050 will present world s sixth greatest number of people of 60 years or more. This feminization of aging demands changes in the public policies and in social behavior. The objective of this work is to verify how women s perception of sexuality in the aging process interrelates with the variables: vanity, preconception, sexual fantasies, erotism and lave. This field research was carried out by analysing the answers of 15 interviewed women, divided into 5 groups of 3 women each. These groups had been classified by age bands, from 4th to 8 th decade. Based on the assumption that aging and sexuality are continuous processes which are related to individual lifes stories and experiences, their understanding cannot be reduced to the biological aspect. The work took into account the cultural-social and political character of the lived experiences, and analyzed it based on complexity. The conclusion was that the women s perception of sexuality in the aging process reveals rich and instigating reflections that give rise to and face wider philosophical and polical questions. Some examples are the relationship between transformations, changes and history, the difficult impasse related to difference and equality, the effective role played by resistance attitudes and actions, all of which fundamental to a deeper and more consequent evaluation of the possible viabilities and directions oh historical changes
