RESUMO

This dissertation aims at discussing the construction of Manoel de Barros poetic language, considering the astonishment caused by its organization. It analyses the poets metaphorical construction, especially in the prosopopoeical and synesthetic variations. To these variations, it associates the antithesis as a way to think about the astonishment caused by such poetry. It also considers the importance of intertextuality and intratextuality in the authors poetic constitution, examining the consequences of those uses for his poetic reception.
