A mística no cotidiano do MST: a interface entre religiosidade popular e política / The mistica in everyday life of the MST: The Interphases Between Popular Religious and Politics

RESUMO
This study intends to describe and analize the main characteristics and functions of the mistica in everyday life of the MST. In our study, beginning with the literature that focuses on the mistic in other areas of knowledge and then, specifically, we consulted a bibliography that deals with the mistica in the MST. We bring to our study historical and theoretical elements in order to establish the interphases existing between religion and politics in the practices of Brazilian social movements and we found that the mistic is one of the phenomenons the emerge in this intersection between religion and politics. The methodological procedures used were: participant observation, field diaries, semi-structured interviews. We chose, from the persons engaged in the MST, in the settlement studied, a local leader of the settlement, another a national leader, two persons that organize the mistica in the settlement and three persons from the settlement that only participate in the rituals of the mistica. The results found in the study were that the leaders see the misticas of MST as politica strategies of persuasion, as they themselves claim, and they organize them so that they are perceived in that manner. For the organizers of the misticas in the settlements, the misticas are viewed as educational strategies while for the settlers that participate the rituals are seen as forms of celebrations and demand-making. Consequently, in refering to the mistica, one must know about which group its referes to, since for each group of interviewees there is a different political or religion attribution varying in accordance with their concepts and practices within the social movement.
