RESUMO

This paper aims at presenting an analysis on the science-fiction genre in movies and literature. We will analyze how science-fiction texts works when translated into the movie media. The corpus of the experiment is the transposition of the book The Time Machine, written by H. G. Wells in 1895, into the film by the same name directed by George Pal in 1960. We will consider the problems involved in the bringing of the book to the screen, and the changes that are necessary to make a good adaptation.
