RESUMO

This study aims to investigate, from the sociological point of view, the process of institucionalization of responsible behavior in entrepreneurial organizations, in light of the transformations of the legimation ways in capitalism. The research issue will be evaluated through a case study. It intends to analyze the institutionalization of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) reflected in the speeches and policies in the Federação das Indústrias do Estado de Minas Gerais FIEMG. The research points to CSR as an institutionalized rational myth, whose institutionalization process has been consolidating in the Brazilian organizations that search to fit in international market rules, as much as local community demands. Theres an understanding that the old development model and the economy and society relations are no more sufficient to deal with the demands generated by the impacts of economic activities. The new managerial ideologies search to join the development of more efficient production methods and the promotion of new methods of corporate legitimation through the appropriation of social critique ideas. The research results suggest that CSR has emerged from these new paradigms, but it has been institutionalized more and more in organizations because it is economically useful and aims, at the same time, allow the survival of the capitalist corporations in face of new market exigencies and to reduce the questionings about its institutional legitimation in the communities.
