RESUMO

This research aimed to analyze the impact of the Pernambuco half barren economy in the state economy. The desk research, interviews and researches endorsed the choice of the studied subject, showing how much the half barren can influence the State economy throughout the reorganization of the production capacity. The State of Pernambuco has been presenting stable economic indicators, with low increasing taxes, loosing positions in the northeastern economic ranking. The desk research shows that the insertion of the half barrent into the state economy, throughout the production of castor oil plant, its oil and biodiesel will lead to good levels of development and social integration, which will mobilize the regional productive force and increase thewell being levels of the local population, decreasing the agricultural exodus. Once this happens, there will be an increase and diversification of the international trade items due to the reduction of the imported volume of oil derivative products and the increasing of the exports of excess of biodiesel produced in the internal market. This last one, will also contribute to the pollution control and better adequation to the Kyoto Protoco
