A influência da tecnologia sobre os acidentes de trabalho : uma investigação empírica

RESUMO

This study is in the field of Administration of Human Resources, and focuses on the relations between types of technology, defined by the levei of automation, and on-the-job accidents, within the organizational context. The relationship between the levei of laborer s skill and on-the-job accidents was studied. Also it was investigated if the degree of worker autonomy and the division of labor as perceived by the workers were associated with accidents. Lastly, factors which influente in the occurrence in accidents and worker s health were investigated. For the study it was drawn a sample of 36 productions sectors of 3 machine shops and a sample of 234 accidented workers. Also, a sample of 100 workers in the sectors investigated was asked to complete questionnaires. It was found that in automated sectors, accidents were less frequent and less severe. Also, that there was no difference in the frequency of accidents, between non-automated and semi-automated leveis. However, accidents were more severe in the semi-automated level. The levei of the laborer s skill as not related with on-the-job accidents. Worker autonomy and the division of labor were not significantly different between shops or leveis of automation. Consequently one can infers that these variables are not associated with on-the-job accidents. Finally, according to workers opinion, of the factors which influence in the occurrence of on-the-job accidents, "higiene and job-securit", was the most significant As for the factors which influence worker s health, the most significant was -job-satisfaction".
