A influÃncia do uso, da ocupaÃÃo e da conservaÃÃo do solo na qualidade da Ãgua de abastecimento: o caso da bacia hidrogrÃfica do Lago Descoberto

RESUMO

The objective of this study was to demonstrate the direct relation of the use, occupation and inadequate handling of the soil with the degradation of the quality of water and the silting up of the most important reservoir for the public supplying of the Federal District, that is the Lago Descoberto. The intensive use of the soil in the cultivation of vegetables, fruits, and in the raise of animals, provoked in this hydrographic basin a speed up of the erosive process, in result of the deterioration of the physical properties of the soil, favoring the superficial draining and making the soil susceptible to erosion. The silting up accumulated in the last 30 years provoked reductions of 15,7% in the water mirror a reduction of 16.43% in the of the reservoirâs volume. The irregular parcel of the areas, has contributed for the population thickness and also to the speed up of the erosive process. For the study one developed some methods and procedures, such as documentaring of the bibliographical research and, application of questionnaires and elaboration of the maps of the erosion risk. The results of the analysis of the maps of erosion risk had demonstrated that the areas of average, high and very high erosion risk, totalize 89.91% of the area of the hydrographic basin, and through the multiweather analysis a significant reduction in the areas of low erosion risk with the consequent increase of the areas of high risk of erosion is observed. Such results are shown of high relevance and it takes to suggest them a plan of handling and conservation of the soil for this hydrographic basin of vital importance for the economic and social development of Brasilia.
