RESUMO

This present paper discusses the associations established between the Catholic Church in Bahia and State, after the Revolution of 1930, where the articulator was the Archbishop of bahia and Primate of brazil, Dom Augusto Álvaro da Silva. Ever since the official separation of the Catholic Church and brazilian republican State, in 1890, the catholic institution has dreamed of and prepared itself to recalim the prerogatives that were lost with the end of the Patronage. Thus so, the main objective here is to analyze the Catholic Restoration movement, in Bahia, brought about between 1930 and 1940. To achieve this, a few actions of support for the new government by way of the Bahian Catholic Church have been analyzed, as well as the reactions the institution underwent because of these tight political relations with the new State.
