RESUMO

This aim of this work is to outline the profile of the Teacher Researcher, leader of a research group within the University context, in a linking of the area of Education with Scientific Communication. The work was inspired by a book by Marli André on the role of research in the training of teachers who, for the purposes of this research, are university teachers. Given that the distinct feature of the university teacher researcher is his scientific production, this work was guided by the documentalist tradition of the scientific production of the last five years, in terms of means of publication and authorship by areas of knowledge, namely: Agrarian Sciences, Biological Sciences, Earth and Exact Sciences, Human Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering, Linguistics, Language and Arts. The differences among the research groups and the specific characteristics of each area echo the differences in the social structure of science. These differences can either contribute to or hinder relationships of collaboration. The results show that the area of Health has the highest incidence of complete articles published in academic journals; The Earth Sciences and Exact Sciences showed a higher incidence of complete works published in annals of events, with this community being second highest in terms of the number of research groups in the university studied. The Exact Sciences also showed the highest number of concluded and ongoing works in the area of initiation in scientific research, as well as had the highest number of under-graduate students involved in research projects. The Applied Social Sciences group was the one whose research groups had the highest number of researchers involved. The Human Sciences was the area that presented the highest number of complete articles published in national journals, while the Health Sciences had the highest number in international journals. In relation to authorship, the Applied Social Sciences presented the highest number of works published by a single author, while the area of Human Sciences, contrary to the literature review, revealed the highest number of research projects with two authors. The Health Sciences are the champions for research projects involving three authors, while Linguistics, Language and Arts had the highest number of research projects with multiple authorship. The relationship between teaching and research was perceived by the coauthorship between researchers and students and this proved to be a positive relationship for all eight areas of knowledge studied. The data collected highlights the emergence of a new pattern of authorship in the Human Sciences, which is still predominantly national, but not longer single authorship, as has traditionally been the norm in the literature of scientific communication. The profile of the University Teacher Researcher was then outlined by the frequency with which he or she presents his or her works to the Scientific Community, by the means of scientific publication he or she uses, and by the form of collaboration he or she offers, making use of this collaboration to produce knowledge and encourage young students to carry out research.
