RESUMO

This work was motivated by the fact that students do not demonstrate interest in studying the contents related to Organic Chemistry. Literature has emphasized that this is a particular case of broader situation, that is, of the current science teaching crisis. The reasons that have lead to this situation are, according to various studies, the approach in which scientific knowledge is presented. Such approach is characterized by the focus on transmission of knowledge that is distant from the students reality, and by having as its objective the formation of future professionals of science relate careers. In addition, such approach presents scientific knowledge as if it an unquestionable as if it was an unquestionable truth, since, in epistemological terms, it is based in an indutivist empirical model of science, whose fundaments have been criticized by modern Philosophy of Science. Aiming at overcoming these difficulties, we have produced a teaching module that approaches the theme dyes, according to an historical perspective allied to experimentation. Such module has been evaluated by seven Chemistry teachers. Each ones evaluation was collected by means of semi-structured interviews. As a result, the teachers have pointed out the potential of the material in allowing an approach that break with the fragmentation of chemistry knowledge, make the content closer to the students reality and present the inter-relations between science, technology and society. The teacher also pointed that the suggested experiments may contribute to the articulation between the macroscopic level and theoretical and representational level of chemistry knowledge. We also have carried out an analysis of the way in which History of Science and experimentation were inserted in Chemistry textbooks that will be part of the National Didactic Book Program of 2008. The result of such analysis shows that, in general, these books make use of History of Science, but in an inconsistent manner, and that experimentation is still taken according to the logic of confirmation.
