RESUMO

The Ecological Station of Ãguas Emendadas is a conservation unit located in the Administrative Region of Planaltina and administred by the Environment and Water Resourcesâ Office of Distrito Federal. In this conservation unit there are two active water captations of the Sanitation Department of Distrito Federal, which are in Brejinho and Fumal. The present work analyses the management model of the water supply system of Planaltina, aiming to rationalize the contribution from these captations for the water supply and to guarantee the vital function of Ãguas Emendadas streams, as well as the sustainability of the legally instituted area for the ecosystem protection. It is also present a proposal for the regulation of article 47 of the Law n 9.985/00 (National Sistem of Conservation Units - SNUC), that settles the values, criteria and norms of how the financial contribution for the Ecological Station must be implemented, distinguishing the charge, as management instrument. Through the payment of environmental services, it is possible to dilute the maintenance costs of the protected area.
