RESUMO

To mvestigate if the genetics of hypertension modifies the renal cell events in experimental diabetes mellitus we studied the renal cell replication and its regulation by a cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitor, p27KiPI, in pre-hypertensive spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and their genetically normotensive counterparts, Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats with streptozotocin induced diabetes mellitus. Animals received streptozotocin mjection at 4 weeks of age and the experiments were performed after 10 days of duration of diabetes. The number of replicating cells was assessed by incorporation of bromodeoxyuridIDe(BrdU), a thymidme analogue that incorporates to DNA m S phase, using immunohistochemistry technique...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
