RESUMO

The research The Feast of the Holy Ghost in Penha SC: Tourist and Anthropological Analysis of the Rituals of Preparation for the Feast, discourses about the organization of a religious Feast, observing the motivations and interests for its accomplishment for at least one hundred and sixty-seven years in the region. The study was elaborated from a quality perspective, with anthropological approaches, upon the use of documental and field data. The documental information was obtained in libraries, historical files and parishes of the region of Penha; The current information was collected from family and non-family groups that act in the Feast, inhabitants not involved in the organization of the Feast, representatives of the government, managers and business people making a total of twenty persons contacted and thirteen interviewed. Free observation and participation were also made before and during the Feast of 200 2002. For the analysis of the documentary data and of the observation it was chosen the descriptive narrative method. For the analysis of the interview the Lefèvre and collaborator method, which is the Discourse of the Collective Subject. At the end we present a series of data about the Feast while ritual and tourist potential, uniting cultural tradition, religious cult and celebration among the cities of Penha, Navegantes and Piçarras.
