RESUMO
This dissertation intends to show that the work of art, mainly the literature, has a function and a single importance in so as that it reveals the own man in situation that is, through art, man longs for being the impossible synthesis of the In-itself-For-itself. Literature still possesses the specificity of allowing the understanding of the human reality starting from the movement of necessary nothingness for the imagination to happen. It is therefore imagination and significance, in other words, it is as ambiguous as man.
