RESUMO
resumo Este artigo procura traçar os passos de Ana Maria Primavesi desde sua formação na Universidade de Ciências Rurais (Boku), em Viena, rumo ao entendimento (único) da complexidade da vida do solo, e como esse organismo vivo atua para o bom desenvolvimento agrícola. Percorre o caminho da sua infância e a sua formação acadêmica em meio à Segunda Guerra Mundial e às dificuldades que enfrentou para continuar seus estudos. Na Boku, fortuitamente, Ana conhece o trabalho de Johannes Görbing, farmacêutico de formação mas um entusiasta da química e da botânica, um de seus maiores mestres. No pós-guerra, Ana e seu marido Artur Primavesi emigram para o Brasil e aqui revolucionam a agricultura tropical ao defenderem o manejo ecológico do solo, considerando que o trato ecológico do solo deve obedecer às condições de cada lugar (eco = lugar). Ana Primavesi fincou os primeiros alicerces do que se chamou na agronomia de agroecologia, uma prática agrícola que mimetiza a natureza e que não explora o solo até o seu limite, mas sim lhe recompensa toda a abundância que proporciona.abstract This article seeks to trace the steps of Ana Maria Primavesi from her graduation at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, to her the (unique) understanding of the complexity of soil life, and how this living organism contributes to agricultural development. It follows the path of her childhood and academic formation in the midst of World War II, and the difficulties she faced to continue her studies. At BOKU, fortuitously, Ana gets to know the work of Johannes Görbing, a pharmacist and an enthusiast of chemistry and botany, who became one of her greatest mentors. After the war, Ana and her husband Artur Primavesi emigrated to Brazil, where they revolutionized tropical agriculture by advocating an ecological management of the soil and insisting that the ecological treatment of the soil must obey the conditions of each place (eco = place). Ana Primavesi laid the first foundations of what agronomy would call agroecology, an agricultural practice that mimics nature and does not exploit the soil to its limit, but rather rewards all the abundance it provides.
