RESUMO

This survey intends to discuss the relationship between Ethics in economy and administration. The focus assumed by the author is to demonstrate that the classic economy ethics as expressed by Adam Smith is completely different from the ethics exposed by the new classic thinkers, such as Hayek, Von Misses and Friedman. Although there are some adoptions of Adams Smith's economical perspectives by the business world, the criteria for evaluating entrepreneur's performance have their origin in the new classical economy. Thus, by consequence it incorporates their underlying ethical values. By ignoring this subjacent relationship between economy and businesses, the discussion on the subject of ethics in business is lead to ways that hampers and block any consensus or practical application.
