RESUMO

The totality category has been, since the 1980Âs, one of the cornerstones of theoretical and methodological Social Work. Our study focuses on the construction of the totality category on MarxÂs, LukacsÂs and MÃszÃrosÂs thought and its insertion at the accomplishment of Curriculum Guidelines in higher education institutions which offer degrees in Social Work in BrazilÂs Northeast. We have presented a discussion from the concept formulated by the Classics in order to confirm this theoretical perspective as accurate as possible. Subsequently, we devote our attention to the evaluative research on the implementation of Curricular Guidelines by ABEPSS in 2006, particularly CardosoÂs work. Finally, we checked the questionnaires sent by the institutions mentioned, focusing on the amendments and bibliographies attached to the Center for Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Social Work
