2. INVESTIGAÇÃODE Salmonella sp. EM PSITTACIFORMES MANTIDOS EM CRIATÓRIOS COMERCIAIS E CONSERVACIONISTAS DA REGIÃO METROPOLITANA DE FORTALEZA-CEARÁ / RESEARCH Salmonella sp. MAINTAINED IN Psittaciformes in commercial houses and conservationists THE METROPOLITAN REGION OF FORTRESS-CEARÁ
Psittaciformes are the most popular pet birds in the world. Direct contact between humans and Psittaciformes is very comprehensive and the analysis of the bacterial flora of these birds is poorly known, and it can be highly pathogenic. Bacterial infections represent a major cause of enteric diseases in poultry, being the Salmonella one of the main agents inv

Several Psittacidae species, as those of Ara genus, have biological characteristics frequently associate with extinction risk. These include corporal size, specialized food preferences, low rate of population growth, restricted habitat and geographic dispersal. Genetic studies are important tools because they provide helpfulness for the conservation of those

4. DIETA DO GAVIÃO-REAL Harpia harpyja (Aves: Accipitridae) EM FLORESTAS DE TERRA FIRME DE PARINTINS, AMAZONAS, BRASIL
This study analyzed the diet of the Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja), including the influences of seasonality and land cover (forest vs. deforested) in a 3 km buffer around nests, and the frequency of occurrence and biomass of prey delivered to nestlings and fledglings. The nests were located in areas of lowland forest in settlements of Villa Amazônia (INCRA).

6. Molecular markers for population genetic analyses in the family Psittacidae (Psittaciformes, Aves)
The selection of molecular markers for population studies is an important tool for biodiversity conservation. The family Psittacidae contains many endangered and vulnerable species and we tested three kinds of molecular markers for their potential use in population studies of five psitacid species: 43 hyacinth macaws (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), 42 blue-and

7. Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection in a Green-Winged Macaw (Ara chloroptera): Report with Public Health Implications
Mycobacterium tuberculosis was isolated from the eyelid, skin, tongue, and lungs of a green-winged macaw (Ara chloroptera). Two persons living in the same household were culture positive for pulmonary tuberculosis 3 to 4 years before tuberculosis was diagnosed in the bird. Although humans have not been shown to acquire tuberculosis from birds, an infected bi
