14. Human leukocyte antigen allele linkage disequilibrium and haplotype structure in volunteer bone marrow donors of Paraná State
Abstract Background Bone marrow transplantation has been used in the treatment of various diseases, especially hematologic diseases. The success of this treatment, among other factors, requires human leukocyte antigens (HLA) compatibility between patient and donor. Knowing the human leukocyte antigens allele group and haplotype frequencies as well as the li

15. Adiponectin inhibits oxidization-induced differentiation of T helper cells through inhibiting costimulatory CD40 and CD80
Adiponectin is a multifunctional adipokine that has several oligomeric forms in the blood stream, which broadly regulates innate and acquired immunity. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to observe the differentiation of T helper (Th) cells and expression of costimulatory signaling molecules affected by adiponectin. The mRNA and protein expression levels of

16. Expression of co-stimulatory molecules CD80 and CD86 is altered in CD14 + HLA-DR + monocytes from patients with Chagas disease following induction by Trypanosoma cruzi recombinant antigens
Abstract INTRODUCTION The relationships between monocytes and lymphocytes through MHC class II molecules and costimulatory, are of utmost importance for the production of an efficient immune response. In this work, we assessed the expression of surface molecules CD80 and CD86 on CD14+HLA-DR+ monocytes from patients with Chagas disease. METHODS: The study

17. Geographic tongue and psoriasis: clinical, histopathological, immunohistochemical and genetic correlation - a literature review
Abstract: Geographic tongue is a chronic, inflammatory, and immune-mediated oral lesion of unknown etiology. It is characterized by serpiginous white areas around the atrophic mucosa, which alternation between activity, remission and reactivation at various locations gave the names benign migratory glossitis and wandering rash of the tongue. Psoriasis is a c

18. HLA-DR3 antigen in the resistance to idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy
Idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDC) has been hypothesized as a multifactorial disorder initiated by an environment trigger in individuals with predisposing human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles. Published data on the association between HLA-DR3 antigen and IDC risk are inconclusive. To derive a more precise estimation of the relationship, a meta-analysis

19. Co-administration of plasmid-encoded granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor increases human immunodeficiency virus-1 DNA vaccine-induced polyfunctional CD4+ T-cell responses
T-cell based vaccines against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) generate specific responses that may limit both transmission and disease progression by controlling viral load. Broad, polyfunctional, and cytotoxic CD4+T-cell responses have been associated with control of simian immunodeficiency virus/HIV-1 replication, supporting the inclusion of CD4+ T-cell

20. Palmar and plantar lichen planus: a case report and review of the literature
AbstractPalmoplantar lichen planus is an uncommon dermatosis. We present a case of 38-year-old Caucasian male with a history of pruritic, scaly lesions on the right plantar foot. Physical examination revealed whitish plaques and numerous spiny hyperkeratotic papules and focal scaling. A biopsy demonstrated orthohyperkeratosis and acanthosis of the epidermis.

21. Salvaged single-unit cord blood transplantation for 26 patients with hematologic malignancies not in remission
Treatments for patients with hematologic malignancies not in remission are limited, but a few clinical studies have investigated the effects of salvaged unrelated cord blood transplantation (CBT). We retrospectively studied 19 patients with acute leukemia, 5 with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS with refractory anemia with excess blasts [RAEB]), and 2 with non-

22. Mycobacterium tuberculosis epitope-specific interferon-g production in healthy Brazilians reactive and non-reactive to tuberculin skin test
The interferon (IFN)-γ response to peptides can be a useful diagnostic marker of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) latent infection. We identified promiscuous and potentially protective CD4+ T-cell epitopes from the most conserved regions of MTB antigenic proteins by scanning the MTB antigenic p

23. Análise molecular de polimorfismos nos genes HLA-ClASSE II DRB1* e IL7R? possivelmente associados com a susceptibilidade à esclerose múltipla em uma amostra da população do Rio de Janeiro
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory and degenerative disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that affects mainly young adults. MS seems to be a polygenic and multifactorial disease, and genetic susceptibility has been associated mainly with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), which in humans is the human leukocyte antigen (HLA). Among non-
