37. Editorial Comment: Impact of the advent of collagenase clostridium histolyticum on the surgical management of Peyronie's disease: a population-based analysis
ABSTRACT Vesicoureteral reflux, the retrograde flow of urine from the bladder into the upper urinary tract, is one of the most common urologic diagnoses in the pediatric population. Once detected, therapeutic options for urinary reflux are diverse, ranging from observation with or without continuous low-dose prophylactic antibiotics to a variety of operative

39. Characterization of Lactobacillus plantarum strains isolated from Turkish pastırma and possibility to use of food industry
Abstract Five Lactobacillus plantarum strains (which were previously isolated from Turkish pastırma), were evaluated for the possibilities of using in the food industry. Antimicrobial properties, metabolic activities, exopolysaccharide production and antibiotic resistance were investigated. It was also assessed probiotics features such as adhesion ability,

40. SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF NEW Cu (II), Co (II) AND Sn (II) COMPLEXES WITH THE SODIUM HYDROTRIS(2-MERCAPTOTHIAZOLYL)BORATE LIGAND
The emergence of antibiotic resistance among microbial pathogens is a serious public health problem, resulting in a constant need of discovering new antibiotics. For this purpose, we synthetized and determined the antimicrobial activity of copper (Cu), cobalt (Co), and tin (Sn) complexes coordinated with scorpionate ligand in a tridentate mode against microo

43. Evaluation of in vitro activity of ceftolozane-tazobactam against recent clinical bacterial isolates from Brazil - the EM200 study
ABSTRACT Background: The emergence of antibiotic resistance is increasing and there are few effective antibiotics to treat infections caused by resistant and multidrug resistant bacterial pathogens. This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro activity of ceftolozane-tazobactam against clinical bacterial isolates from Brazil. Methods: A total of 673 Gram-nega

44. Proteomic analysis of the inhibitory effect of chitosan on Penicillium expansum
Abstract The antimicrobial effect of chitosan on Penicillium expansum, a major postharvest pathogen of pome fruit, and the possible mechanisms involved in its effect were examined in this study. Chitosan strongly inhibited spore germination and hyphal growth of P. expansum. Light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy observations revealed that chit

45. Identification of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Bulk Tank Milk
Abstract Staphylococcus aureus is the leading cause of intoxications in humans. Also, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) is an emerging problem in food-producing animals. The presence of MRSA in milk may create a risk to public health. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of MRSA in bulk tank milk samples. One hundred and twenty bulk tank m
