13. Efeitos da administração prolongada do esteróide anabolizante decanoato de nandrolona em comportamentos emocionais e na expressão de genes relacionados ao sistema serotoninérgico em diferentes áreas cerebrais de camundongos / Effects of prolonged administration of the anabolic-androgenic steroid nandrolone decanoate in emotional behaviors and serotonergic system related genes expression in several brain areas of mice
Nandrolone decanoate is a highly abused anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) by individuals looking for gains in physical strength or body appearance. Supraphysiological doses of this testosterone synthetic derivative have been associated with many physical and psychiatric adverse effects, especially reported episodes of impulsiveness and overt aggressive behav

14. Influence of anabolic-androgenic steroid mesterolone in sedentary or exercised transgenic mice / Influencia do esteroide anabolico-androgenico mesterolona em camundongos transgenicos sedentarios ou exercitados

15. SISTEMA COLINÉRGICO E PEROXIDAÇÃO LIPÍDICA DE RATOS TRATADOS COM SULFATO DE VINCRISTINA E DECANOATO DE NANDROLONA / EVALUATION OF CHOLINERGIC SYSTEM AND LIPID PEROXIDATION OF RATS TREATED WITH VINCRISTINE SULPHATE AND NANDROLONE DECANOATE

16. Efeitos do uso de esteróides anabolizantes associados ao treinamento físico de natação sobre o fluxo sangüíneo para o miocárdio de ratos normotensos / Effects of anabolic steroids use associated with swimming exercise training on myocardium blood flow of normotensive rats
The abusive use of ergogenic resources as the anabolic steroid became an increasing problem in several segments of the population, beyond the athletical way, searching for better performance or physical appearance, without being worried about the risks of the collateral effects promoted by this practice. In the present work we studied the effects of the use

17. Alterações cardiacas induzidas por esteroide anabolico androgenico em ratos sedentarios e treinados / Cardiac alterations induced of anabolic steroid in sedentary and trained rats

18. Anabolic steroid- and exercise-induced cardiac stress protein (HSP72) in the rat
The present study investigated the effects of exercise and anabolic-androgenic steroids on cardiac HSP72 expression. Male Wistar rats were divided into experimental groups: nandrolone exercise (NE, N = 6), control exercise (CE, N = 6), nandrolone sedentary (NS, N = 6), and control sedentary (CS, N = 6). Animals in the NE and NS groups received a weekly intra

19. Anabolic-Androgenic Steroid Use and Involvement in Violent Behavior in a Nationally Representative Sample of Young Adult Males in the United States
We examined the effects of anabolic-androgenic steroid use on serious violent behavior. Multivariate models based on data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (N = 6823) were used to examine the association between lifetime and past-year self-reported anabolic-androgenic steroid use and involvement in violent acts. Compared with individu

20. Near‐fatal spontaneous hepatic rupture associated with anabolic androgenic steroid use: a case report
Anabolic androgenic steroids are commonly used at high doses by bodybuilders and athletes to enhance physique and improve performance levels. We report a case of spontaneous hepatic rupture with life‐threatening haemorrhage associated with a past history of anabolic steroid use.

21. The Safety and Efficacy of Anabolic Steroid Precursors: What is the Scientific Evidence?
Objective: Anabolic steroid precursors have gained widespread popularity as ergogenic supplements. Advertisements for these supplements claim that they increase endogenous testosterone production and protein synthesis, resulting in increased lean body mass and strength during training. At this time scientific support is limited, but the potential for serious

22. Hormonal manipulation of the immune response in systemic lupus erythematosus: a drug trial of an anabolic steroid, 19-nortestosterone.
Ten patients (8 female, 2 male) with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were entered into an open trial with the anabolic steroid 19-nortestosterone (19-nor). Their clinical condition did not improve, nor were significant changes observed in the majority of laboratory data. However, overall the platelet count rose, and in patients with abnormal levels of T l

24. A controlled trial of nandrolone decanoate in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in postmenopausal women.
To determine whether an anabolic steroid had any benefit in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis 47 patients entered a parallel group study. Twenty four received nandrolone decanoate 50 mg intramuscularly every third week for two years and 23 patients received no anabolic steroids. Other therapy was unaltered. Patients attended for clinical and biochemical
