1. Effect of a boomerang-shaped Conchal cartilage graft for Type three Tympanoplasty on Hearing
Abstract Introduction Chronic suppurative otitis media atticoantral disease (CSOM-AAD) is often associated with ossicular erosion resulting in significant hearing loss. Absence of the stapes suprastructure is a poor prognostic indicator of hearing outcome, which necessitates an effective reconstruction technique for ossicular continuity and restoration of m

4. Effect of Conditioning Protocols and Ultrasonic Application of an Infiltrant Resin in White Spot Lesions

6. Growth hormone insensitivity with immune dysfunction caused by a STAT5B mutation in the south of Brazil: evidence for a founder effect
ABSTRACT Homozygous STAT5B mutations causing growth hormone insensitivity with immune dysfunction were described in 10 patients since 2003, including two Brazilian brothers from the south of Brazil. Our objectives were to evaluate the prevalence of their STAT5B mutation in this region and to analyze the presence of a founder effect. We obtained DNA samples f

7. Decomposição ácida assistida por ultrassom para a determinação de Cu, Fe, Mg e Zn por F AAS em cerâmicas de uso doméstico
This paper describes a sample preparation method for domestic ceramics, based on the acid decomposition assisted by ultrasound for further determination of Cu, Fe, Mg and Zn by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry technique. The main optimized conditions were: particle size (25 µm); sample mass (25 mg) and the acid volume (0.5 mL of HNO3 and 0.5 mL of HF).

9. In vitro evaluation of a closed-loop feedback system for dopamine concentration control
Introduction It is well known that Parkinson’s disease is related to a deficit of dopamine (DA) in the region of the brain called the corpus striatum. The aim of this work is to demonstrate the possibility of in vitro closed-loop control of the DA concentration levels. Methods By applying the electrochemical technique of fast scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV

10. 2D upper bound analysis of ECAE through 2θ-dies for a range of channel angles
Equal Channel Angular Extrusion (ECAE), sometimes referred to as Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP), is a Severe Plastic Deformation technique. However the energy-power parameters of ECAE have not been fully addressed in previous known publications. The present article is focused on the punching pressure, accumulated plastic strain, and dead metal zone ge

12. Simplified hemostatic technique during laparoscopic partial nephrectomy
INTRODUCTION: Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) has gained popularity in recent years, although it remains a challenging procedure. Herein we describe our technique of renal defect closure using sutures as the sole means of hemostasis during LPN. SURGICAL TECHNIQUE: The kidney is approached transperitoneally in a standard fashion. After the renal artery
