13. Use of Adsorbent Biochar from Pequi (Caryocar Brasiliense) Husks for the Removal of Commercial Formulation of Glyphosate from Aqueous Media
Abstract This study evaluated the capacity of adsorbent biochar derived from pequi husks to remove glyphosate (commercial formulation) in aqueous medium under three pH conditions (5.5, 7.0 and 8.0). This biochar presented a mean yield of 33.1% ± 2.66% and a high amount of surface particles of small dimensions endowing it with high surface area. The results

14. STUDY OF THE CHROMIUM(VI) REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SYSTEMS BY COBALT NANOPARTICLES
The cobalt nanoparticles (NPs-Co) were synthesized and applied in the removal of Cr(VI). The obtained nanomaterials presented magnetic properties and were characterized by the techniques of Transmission Electron Microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The NPs-Co, with a diameter of less than 50 nm, had a composition based on metallic cobalt and cobalt oxide. The N

18. Phosphate Adsorption by Montmorillonites Modified with Lanthanum/Iron and a Laboratory Test using Water from the Jacarepaguá Lagoon (RJ, Brazil)
Montmorillonites modified with lanthanum(III) and iron(III) were prepared from two commercial clays. These materials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray fluorescence, infrared spectroscopy, N2 adsorption, and scanning electron microscopy. The incorporation of lanthanum(III) and iron(III) varied from 0 to 4.00%. The amount of these

19. Functionalized Charcoal as a Buffering Matrix of Copper and Zinc Availability
ABSTRACT: High copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) contents in soil can cause phytotoxicity to plants and contaminate surface and groundwater, with negative effects on agriculture and the environment. Functionalized charcoal (OCh) has high cation exchange capacity (CEC) and the ability to adsorb Cu and Zn and control their availability in the soil and water. An adsorp

21. Chitosan and gum arabic nanoparticles for heavy metal adsorption
Abstract Chitosan (CT) is a polysaccharide with the ability to adsorb metals on its surface. In this work, CT-based nanoparticles (NPs) are produced by complex formation with gum arabic (GA) to increase their adsorbent potential for removal of heavy metals in aqueous medium. Adsorption efficiency is evaluated as a function of NP composition and polysaccharid
