1. Genotoxic and Genoprotective Potential of Black Mulberry (Morus nigra) Fruit
Abstract: Black Mulberry (Morus nigra L.) belongs to Moraceae family. The present study evaluated the possible genotoxic and/or protective activities of black mulberry fruit juice (BMFJ), in vitro, using mitomycin C (MMC) as a positive control, by chromosomal aberrations and micronucleus assays. Human lymphocytes were treated with BMFJ concentrations alone (

2. Regular exercise, overweight/obesity and sedentary lifestyle cause adaptive changes in thiol–disulfide homeostasis
Abstract: Dynamic thiol–disulfide homeostasis is considered to have critical roles in maintenance of physiological functioning. We aimed to reveal whether there is any specific aberration in thiol–disulfide homeostasis in three distinct categories of individuals, including those who 1) exercise regularly (fitness group), 2) have a sedentary lifestyle (se

3. El sistema óptico de enfoque de Feynman
Abstract We analyze the behavior of an optical focusing system, used by Richard Feynman in his famous physics classes. The system is a biconvex optical lens with symmetry of revolution around an axis, defined by the property that the rays that start from a point source, located in a focus on the axis, converge to an image point on the other side of the lens,

4. Marsdenia tenacissima extract alters crucial metabolites in cancer, determined by 1 H NMR based metabolomics approach
ABSTRACT Altered metabolites level in the biosystems, is the potential cause of cancer, the primary reason of alteration of metabolism is change in nutrient consumption and waste excretion, as a result genetic mutation leads to cancer initiation and progression. Aberration of specific metabolites such as fumarate, succinate, 2-hydroxyglutarate may alter cell

5. Discusión de la aproximación paraxial y análisis numérico de la aberración de esfericidad
Textbooks intended to undergraduate students discuss image formation by mirrors and lens based on paraxial approximation. This conventional approach has ambiguities and lacks which induce students to conceptual mistakes. This paper points out those ambiguities and demonstrates that a basic proposition of paraxial approximation has a very limited scope. Furth

6. Study of PtPd Bimetallic Nanoparticles for Fuel Cell Applications
Bimetallic nanoparticles are of special interest for their potential applications for fuel cells, mainly for portable power applications. Among the bimetallic systems, Pt-Pd bimetallic nanoparticles have received great interest as they can be widely used as effective catalysts for various electrochemical reactions. In this work, Pt-Pd alloy bimetallic nanopa

7. The complex translocation (9;14;14) involving IGH and CEBPE genes suggests a new subgroup in B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Abstract Many subtypes of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are associated with specific chromosomal rearrangements. The complex translocation t(9;14;14), a variant of the translocation (14;14)(q11;q32), is a rare but recurrent chromosomal abnormality involving the immunoglobulin heavy-chain (IGH) and CCAAT enhancer-binding protein (CEBPE) genes in B-lineag

8. A dose-response curve for biodosimetry from a 6 MV electron linear accelerator
Biological dosimetry (biodosimetry) is based on the investigation of radiation-induced biological effects (biomarkers), mainly dicentric chromosomes, in order to correlate them with radiation dose. To interpret the dicentric score in terms of absorbed dose, a calibration curve is needed. Each curve should be constructed with respect to basic physical paramet

9. In vitro cytotoxic, genotoxic and antioxidant/oxidant effects of guaiazulene on human lymphocytes
The aim of this study was to evaluate for the cytotoxicity, genotoxicity and antioxidant/oxidant activity of GYZ on human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs). Guaiazulene (GYZ) was added into culture tubes at various concentrations (0-400 µg/mL-1). Cytotoxicity against the human lymphocytes cultures was examined by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release assay.

10. The investigation of cytogenetic and oxidative effects of diffractaic acid on human lymphocyte cultures
Diffractaic acid (DA) is a naturally occurring depside derivative found in several lichen species. It has a wide range of important biological effects such as analgesic and antiviral properties, although its cytotoxic, cytogenetic and oxidative effects have not been investigated in human blood tissue yet. Therefore, increasing concentrations (1, 5, 10, 25, 5

11. Evaluación preclínica y estudio de estabilidad de extractos a partir del follaje de Momordica charantia Lin
The objective of this investigation was the preclinical evaluation and the stability study of the Momordica charantia Linn hydroalcoholic and aqueous leaf extracts. The hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts were obtained and the quality specifications were determined by evaluating three lots. The stability of the extracts was evaluated for 12 months. The genot

12. Chromatic spatial contrast sensitivity estimated by visual evoked cortical potential and psychophysics
The purpose of the present study was to measure contrast sensitivity to equiluminant gratings using steady-state visual evoked cortical potential (ssVECP) and psychophysics. Six healthy volunteers were evaluated with ssVECPs and psychophysics. The visual stimuli were red-green or blue-yellow horizontal sinusoidal gratings, 5° × 5°, 34.3 cd/m2 mean luminan
