1. Physical and chemical characterization of sewage sludge with different proportions of diatomaceous earth
ABSTRACT The use of residues for agricultural production is an alternative for the achievement of sustainability. When mixed with diatomaceous earth (DE) from biofuel filtration, sewage sludge (SS) plays an important role as soil conditioning agent. As a result, the objective of this work was to make a DE vermicompost at different proportions: 0; 7.53; 15.06

2. Dendrometric Analysis of Early Development of Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis with Gypsum use Under Subtropical Conditions
ABSTRACT Gypsum can be used as a source for calcium (Ca) and sulphurum (S) for plants, as well as an acid, that is, a natural soil conditioner. Aiming to determine the influence of gypsum on the development of Eucalyptus urograndis in Brazil, an experiment was conducted at two locations in Paraná State. Experiments were conducted with rates of 0, 0.3, 0.6,

4. Growth and chlorophyll in noni seedlings irrigated with saline water in substrate with vermicompost

5. Potential Slow Release Fertilizers and Acid Soil Conditioners Obtained by One-Pot Mechanochemical Activation of Chrysotile:Cement Roofing Sheets with K2HPO4
Chrysotile:cement roofing sheets were milled with and without K2HPO4. As indicated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), the samples crystallinities were reduced with the increasing milling time. The same tendency was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), with disaggregation of the chrysotile fiber bundles and forma

6. AVALIAÇÃO DA LIBERAÇÃO DE ELEMENTOS TRAÇO EM SOLOS TRATADOS COM XISTO RETORTADO
Soils that had received successive applications of retorted oil shale (ROS) in an experiment under field conditions were used in this study, aiming to evaluate the availability of trace elements. In the batch tests, we observed that toxic elements present in the ROS are not desorbed from the matrix in significant amounts to contaminate soil and groundwater.

7. Solid-Liquid Extraction with Low Temperature Purification Coupled with Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry for Determination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls in Sewage Sludge
Sewage sludge is the residue produced by the wastewater treatment plants, which can be used as soil conditioner in agriculture. However, the current legislation recommends monitoring chemical contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). In this study, solid-liquid extraction with low temperature purification (SLE-LTP) was optimized and validated fo

8. Hydro-Physical Properties of a Typic Hapludult under the Effect of Rice Husk Ash
ABSTRACT The combustion of rice husk generates a partially burnt mixture called rice husk ash (RHA) that can be used as a source of nutrients to crops and as a conditioner of soil physical properties. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of RHA levels on the hydro-physical properties of a Typic Hapludult. The experimental design was compose

9. NOVEL SUPERABSORBENT HYDROGEL COMPOSITE BASED ON POLY(ACRYLAMIDE-CO-ACRYLATE)/NONTRONITE: CHARACTERIZATION AND SWELLING PERFORMANCE
A novel superabsorbent hydrogel (SH) composite based on a poly(acrylamide-co-acrylate) matrix filled with nontronite (NONT), a Fe(III)-rich member of the smectite group of clay minerals, is described in this manuscript. A variety of techniques, including FTIR, XRD, TGA, and SEM/EDX, were utilized to characterize this original composite. Experimental data con
