1. Comparison of scar outcomes of alar flare region using absorbable and non-absorbable sutures: a single-blind study
Abstract Objective: Formation of scar on the face after septorhinoplasty may disturb the patient due to cosmetic concerns. One of the main factors affecting scar outcomes is probably the suture material used. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of different suture materials on scar outcomes of alar base in patients undergoing septorhinoplasty.

2. MODIFICAÇÃO QUÍMICA DO POLIPROPILENO ATRAVÉS DA INTRODUÇÃO DE GRUPOS SULFÔNICOS PARA APLICAÇÃO COMO CATALISADOR EM REAÇÕES DE ESTERIFICAÇÃO
In this work, the chemical modification of pristine polypropylene was carried out through sulfonation reactions with concentrated sulfuric acid (PPS1) and fuming sulfuric acid (PPS2), for production of heterogeneous catalysts used in esterification reactions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, degree of substitution and ion exchange

3. Can platelet-rich plasma coating improve polypropylene mesh integration? An immunohistochemical analysis in rabbits
ABSTRACT Purpose: Despite high success rates in the treatment of urinary incontinence, complications related to the use of polypropylene (PP) meshes are still a concern, especially in vaginal prolapses surgeries. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) coating on the integration of PP meshes implanted in

5. Effects of mesh surgery on sexual function in pelvic prolapse and urinary incontinence
ABSTRACT Purpose: We aimed to determine pre-operative and post-operative sexual function scores of patients who underwent four-arm polypropylene mesh implantation surgery to treat urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Materials and Methods: A prospective study from January 2011 to November 2015 including patients (n: 72) submitted to surgical mes

7. Late Cardiac Tamponade in a Patient Victim of Penetrating Trauma – Case Report
Abstract Case Presentation: A case of a 49-year-old patient, male, victim of stab wound, developing belatedly cardiac tamponade and hemodynamic stability was reported. The patient underwent a pericardial window with drainage of pericardial effusion of blackened aspect; however, without visualization of the cardiac lesion, enlargement of the incision by medi

8. Gasparyan Method of Total Autologous Reconstruction of the Aortic Valve
Abstract In this case report, I describe a new technique for total reconstruction of the aortic valve with autologous pericardium. The parameters of the cusps were calculated using very simple formulas after measurement of the aortic root intercommissural distances. Glutaraldehyde-treated pericardium was trimmed along the marked line, leaving 2 mm of tissue

9. Temporal Evolution of Roughness Development on Polymer Surfaces Exposed to Non-Thermal Plasma
Processes such as ablation, erosion and corrosion generally create roughness patterns on solid surfaces. Despite the randomness of this phenomenon, some patterns can be described mathematically by studying statistically the mechanisms behind them. This paper reports an experimental study on the temporal evolution of the roughness development of polymer surfa

12. Local treatment of colostomy prolapse with the MESH STRIP technique: A novel and highly efficient day hospital technique
OBJECTIVE: Stoma prolapse is an intussusception of the bowel through a mature stoma. It can be caused by increased intra-abdominal pressure, excessively mobile bowel mesentery and/or a large opening in the abdominal wall at the time of stoma formation. It occurs predominantly in loop stomas, and correction methods include conservative modalities, such as lo
