1. Magnetic and Mesoporous Silica-Niobia Material as Modifier of Carbon Paste Electrode for p-Nitrophenol Electrochemical Determination
In the present work, the sol-gel synthesis method was employed as strategy to obtain a magnetic and mesoporous silica-niobia material. The planned synthesis was based on the hetero-condensation of niobium and silicon alkoxide precursors, in the presence of spherical magnetite particles. The resulting material presented interesting characteristics such as mag

2. GALILEO’S PENDULUM AS A MAGNETIC BALANCE FOR STUDYING CHEMICAL MAGNETISM AT HOME
A very simple, but rich experiment, encompassing a classical Galileo’s pendulum, has been devised to be performed at home, especially during the Covid-19 pandemics. The experiment uses a miniature supermagnet rod as the pendulum oscillating element suspended from a fixed sewing thread. Its physics can be fully investigated, allowing to study the oscillatio

4. Increased assimilates in lily yearling bulblets by fertilizer supplement of magnetic nano-composite
Abstract In bulb production period, the promotion of photosynthesis and, consequently, increased synthesis of carbohydrates have the particular importance to enhance the size and quality of the bulbs. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of chitosan and magnetism on the synthesis of photosynthetic compounds. Magnetic nano-composite (MN) and c

5. Mineralogical Evolution of Magnetic Rhodic Oxisols under Different Lithological Influences in Brazil
ABSTRACT Ferrimagnetic Fe-oxides are important soil components, which are present in most of the agricultural soils of Brazil. Distinction, origin, and assessment of the influence of these minerals on magnetism and geochemistry is a challenge for mineralogists. This study aimed to characterize mineralogically Fe-rich Rhodic Oxisols ( Latossolos Vermelhos ) o

6. Study of Electric charge induction with a three-dimensional model using the finite elements method
Abstract One of the first subjects studied in Electricity and Magnetism classes is how one can make an electrically neutral object be an electrically charged object. There are three ways to do it: charging by friction, charging by contact and charging by induction. Induction charging is a method used to charge an object without actually touching the object t

7. Materiales ferromagnéticos: “¿Cómo es eso que el vector H se da vuelta?”
One of the major difficulties that students find in the basic subjects of Electricity and Magnetism is the understanding of the magnetic properties of matter. In particular, the determination of the directions of magnetic vectors in simple devices constructed with ferromagnetic materials such as magnets, transformers and electromagnets. The confusion is comp

8. A magneto-motive ultrasound platform designed for pre-clinical and clinical applications
Abstract Introduction Magneto-motive ultrasound (MMUS) combines magnetism and ultrasound (US) to detect magnetic nanoparticles in soft tissues. One type of MMUS called shear-wave dispersion magneto-motive ultrasound (SDMMUS) analyzes magnetically induced shear waves (SW) to quantify the elasticity and viscosity of the medium. The lack of an established pres

9. Single Flexible Nanofiber to Simultaneously Realize Electricity-Magnetism Bifunctionality
In order to develop new-typed multifunctional composite nanofibers, PANI/Fe3O4/PVP flexible bifunctional composite nanofibers with simultaneous electrical conduction and magnetism have been successfully fabricated via a facile electrospinning technology. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) is used as a matrix to construct composite nanofibers containing different am

10. The NoBLOCK Technology A Major Breakthrough in Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separation (WHIMS)
Since its introduction in 1963 by G.H. “Jones”, WHIMS MS has proven to be, worldwide, a major technology for separating several types of ore fines from their contaminants. Unfortunately, despite its superb characteristics, even if the best operational procedures are followed, one main issue lasts. It is the blocking of the matrix gaps by oversized partic

11. Supercondutividade e magnetismo em pnictídeos baseados em ferro no formalismo do grupo de renormalização até dois loops / Superconductivity and magnetism in iron-based pnictides in the renormalization group approach up to two loops
