1. Modular modeling approach for FDM printed structures and piezo disks for metamaterial design
Abstract Research in metamaterials has recently gained interest in the field of noise and vibration control. The ability of creating band gap zones with minimum added mass is the main feature behind its success. In addition, the use of 3D printed parts, particularly the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), offers a practical solution for manufacturing parts with

2. Fast Optimization of Tuned Mass-Spring Arrangement for Reduction of Acoustic Power Radiation of Submerged Ribbed Cylinder
Abstract In this paper, acoustic power radiation of a submerged finite length ribbed cylinder subject to a harmonic point load is minimized by a new fast scheme. For this purpose, two arrangements of non-uniformly distributed sequential point masses and mass springs attached on stiffening ribs of the cylinder are used to optimally reduce the acoustic power r

3. Crashworthiness Performance of Stiffened Foam-filled Tapered Structures under Axial and Oblique Dynamic Loads
Abstract This paper aims to explore crashworthiness performance of new designed foam-filled tapered structures under axial and oblique impact load conditions. The structures consisted of inner and outer tapered tubes connected together by four stiffening plates. They also included square, hexagonal, octagonal, decagonal and circular cross-sectional shapes w

4. Effect of Process Parameters on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Friction Stir Welded Cast Nickel Aluminum Bronze Alloy (C95800)
In the present study, Friction Stir Welding (FSW) of Nickel Aluminum Bronze (NAB) alloy was carried out by varying the axial load, rotation speed and welding speed rate. Micro-structural analyses of these samples revealed the different grain sizes and shapes of the various zones. Hardness and tensile strength tests were carried out for the samples welded at

5. Numerical Investigation of Structural Response of Corrugated Blast Wall Depending on Blast Load Pulse Shapes
Abstract Hydrocarbon explosions are one of most hazardous events for workers on offshore platforms. To protect structures against explosion loads, corrugated blast walls are typically installed. However, the profiles of real explosion loads are quite different depending on the congestion and confinement of Topside structures. As the level of congestion and c

6. Study on Dynamic Compressive Mechanical Properties and Failure Modes of Heat-Treated Granite
Abstract Temperature and external load are two important factors affecting the mechanical properties of rock material. The test on heat- treated granite specimen was carried out by using an improved split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). Based on the test data, the dynamic behavior and failure characteristics of the granite under the coupling action of tempera

7. Finite Element Method Based Modeling of Resistance Spot-Welded Mild Steel
Abstract This paper deals with Finite Element refined and simplified models of a mild steel spot-welded specimen, developed and validated based on quasi-static cross-tensile experimental tests. The first model was constructed with a fine discretization of the metal sheet and the spot weld was defined as a special geometric zone of the specimen. This model pr

8. Free and Forced Vibration Analysis of Stepped Circular Cylindrical Shells with Several Intermediate Supports Using an Extended Wave Method; a Generalized Approach
Abstract A combination of vectorial form of wave method (VWM) with Fourier expansion series is proposed as a new vehicle for free and forced vibration analysis of stepped cylindrical shells with multiple intermediate flexible supports. The flexible supports can include springs with arbitrary properties in the possible directions. Based on Flügge thin shell

9. Damage identification from uniform load surface using continuous and stationary wavelet transforms
Derived from flexibility matrix, Uniform Load Surface (ULS) is used to identify damages in beam-type structures. This method is beneficial in terms of more participating the lower order modes and having less prone to noise and irregularities in the measured data in comparison with the original flexibility matrix technique. Therefore, these characteristics ma

10. Stress concentration around perforations produced by corrosion in steel storage tanks
This paper presents numerical results of stress concentration factors for plates perforated by corrosion. Evidence from 25 plates with corrosion perforation considered show that typical shapes may be characterized as a deviation from an ellipse or from a circle. In order to model typical perforations created by this type of corrosion, holes with non-circular

11. Buckling configurations and dynamic response of buckled Euler-Bernoulli beams with non-classical supports
Exact solutions of buckling configurations and vibration response of post-buckled configurations of beams with non-classical boundary conditions (e.g., elastically supported) are presented using the Euler-Bernoulli theory. The geometric nonlinearity arising from mid-plane stretching (i.e., the von Kármán nonlinear strain) is considered in the formulation.

12. Dynamic response of low frequency Profiled Steel Sheet Dry Board (PSSDB) floor system
Slender structural floors could experience irritating vibration problems due to human walking load and so, vibration acceptability of such floors is an essential subject in addition to the usual strength criterion. This paper focuses on the dynamic response of a lightweight composite structural system known as Profiled Steel Sheet Dry Board (PSSDB) to evalua
