13. Root canal preparation using micro-computed tomography analysis: a literature review
Abstract: This literature review has critically analyzed the published research related to the biomechanical preparation of root canals with three-dimensional analysis using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). In December 2017, six databases (PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, and Science Direct) were accessed using keywords to find articles

14. Passive Fault-Tolerant Control of an Underactuated Re-Entry Capsule
ABSTRACT: The design of a passive fault-tolerant control for an underactuated re-entry capsule is considered in this paper; however, the control input of the capsule is failed. At first, kinematics and dynamics of the capsule are studied and modeled, and adaptive control law is used to design a passive controller for the control of the capsule. The guidance

15. Assessment of changes in spine curvatures and the sensations caused in three different types of working seats
Abstract Aims This study aimed to evaluate the changes in the spine curvatures and the sensations caused by different types of seats: standard, ischial support and salli. Methods The analyzes were performed by the kinematics and scales of discomfort and pain in 14 healthy subjects. The data collection occurred in three days, one day for each type of seat.

16. Elastoplastic Stability and Failure Analysis of FGM Plate with Temperature Dependent Material Properties under Thermomechanical Loading
Abstract The present paper explores the stability and failure response of elastoplastic Ni/Al2O3 functionally graded plate under thermomechanical load using non-linear finite element formulation based on first-order shear deformation theory and von-Karman’s nonlinear kinematics. The temperature dependent thermoelastic material properties of FGM plate are v

17. Reduced Order Modeling of Composite Laminates Through Solid-Shell Coupling
ABSTRACT: Composite laminates display a complex mechanical behavior due to their microstructure, with a through-thickness variation of the displacement and stress fields that depends on the fiber orientation in each layer. Aiming to develop reduced-order numerical models mimicking the real response of composite structures, we investigated the capability and

20. Flexible Multibody Dynamics Finite Element Formulation Applied to Structural Progressive Collapse Analysis
Abstract This paper presents a two-dimensional frame finite element methodology to deal with flexible multi-body dynamic systems and applies it to building progressive collapse analysis. The proposed methodology employs a frame element with Timoshenko kinematics and the dynamic governing equation is solved based on the stationary potential energy theorem wri

21. A New Fifth-Order Shear and Normal Deformation Theory for Static Bending and Elastic Buckling of P-FGM Beams
Abstract A new fifth-order shear and normal deformation theory (FOSNDT) is developed for the static bending and elastic buckling analysis of functionally graded beams. The properties of functionally graded material are assumed to vary through the thickness direction according to power-law distribution (P-FGM). The most important feature of the present theory

22. Structure Comparison and Optimal Design of 6-RUS Parallel Manipulator Based on Kinematic and Dynamic Performances
Abstract The effects of distinctive parameters such as revolute joint angle or spherical joint location of mobile platform in a 6-DOF 6-RUS parallel manipulators on workspace, kinematic, and dynamic indices are investigated in this study to select proper structure commensurate with performance. Intelligent multi-objective optimization method is used to desig

23. External rotation elastic bands at the lower limb decrease rearfoot eversion during walking: a preliminary proof of concept
ABSTRACT Background Reducing rearfoot eversion is a commonly desired effect in clinical practice to prevent or treat musculoskeletal dysfunction. Interventions that pull the lower limb into external rotation may reduce rearfoot eversion. Objective This study investigated whether the use of external rotation elastic bands, of different levels of stiffness,

24. Development of Sliding Connections for Structural Analysis by a Total Lagrangian FEM Formulation
Abstract In this study a total lagrangian 2D finite element formulation is used to model plane frames developing large displacements and rotations considering sliding connections. This kind of connections is usually called prismatic and cylindrical joints. In order to be self-containing, the steps of the development of a frame finite element of any approxima
