1. Simultaneous determination of mycotoxins in peruvian purple maize

2. Validation and application of an analytical method for the determination of mycotoxins in crackers by UPLC-MS/MS
Abstract An analytical method applying ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was validated for the determination of aflatoxins M2, M1, G2, G1, B2, B1, deoxynivalenol, ochratoxin A, fumonisins B1 and B2, hydrolyzed fumonisins B1 and B2, zearalenone and sterigmatocystin in crackers. The obtained recoveries (70 to 110%) a

3. Analysis of Fusarium ear rot and fumonisin contamination in testcrosses of a maize biparental population
Abstract Fusarium ear rot (FER) negatively affects maize production worldwide and poses a serious threat to human health for producing mycotoxins. The objectives of our study were to assess the factors affecting FER and fumonisin contamination in testcrosses of a maize population. In the trials, seeds of 191 testcrosses of IBMSyn4, 11 checks and 2 replicatio

4. Leukoencephalomalacia in horses associated with immature corn consumption

5. Effects of mycotoxin adsorbents in aflatoxin B 1 - and fumonisin B 1 -contaminated broiler diet on performance and blood metabolite
ABSTRACT The present study examined the effect of aflatoxin (AFB1) and fumonisin (FB1) at the levels of 2 mg kg−1 AFB1 and 100 mg kg−1 FB1 and the efficiency of use of different levels of adsorbent based on sodium and calcium aluminosilicate on growth performance, hematological parameters, and biochemical parameters of broilers. A total of 1,440 Cobb bro

6. Antifungal and antimycotoxigenic activity of essential oils from Eucalyptus globulus, Thymus capitatus and Schinus molle
Abstract Essential oils (EO) of eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus L.), thymus (Thymus capitatus L.) pirul (Schinus molle L.) were evaluated for their efficacy to control Aspergillus parasiticus and Fusarium moniliforme growth and their ability to produce mycotoxins. Data from kinetics radial growth was used to obtain the half maximal inhibitory concentration (

7. PERFORMANCE AND NUTRIENT METABOLIZABILITY IN BROILERS FED DIETS CONTAINING CORN CONTAMINATED WITH FUMONISIN B1 AND ESTERIFIED GLUCOMANNAN
ABSTRACTAn experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance and nutrient metabolizability of broilers fed diets containing fumonisin B1 (FB1) and an esterified glucomannan (EGM). In total, 420 male broilers were distributed according to a 3 x 2 + 1 factorial arrangement, corresponding to three FB1 exposure times (seven, 21, or 35 days), two dietary gluco

8. Can Ergosterol Be an Indicator of Fusarium Fungi and Mycotoxins in Cereal Products?
Presence of fungi in food and feed products is a major problem. Fungi synthesize a large number of secondary metabolites including particularly harmful mycotoxins. They can be produced in plant tissues and are commonly found all over the world in many products including cereals. A total of 44 samples were taken for identification of ergosterol - the potentia

9. Effect of fungicide on Fusarium verticillioidesmycelial morphology and fumonisin B1 production
The effect of fludioxonil + metalaxyl-M on the mycelial morphology, sporulation and fumonisin B1 production by Fusarium verticillioides 103 F was evaluated. Scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the fungicide caused inhibition of hyphal growth and defects on hyphae morphology such as cell wall disruption, withered hyphae, and excessive septation.

10. Dehydration curve, fungi and mycotoxins in Tifton 85 hay dehydrated in the field and in shed
The objective of this study was to estimate the dehydration curve and occurrence of fungi and mycotoxins in Tifton 85 hay. The experimental design was randomized blocks in split plots with four replications and five levels of nitrogen (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 kg ha-1) in the form of urea, two regrowth ages (28 and 35 days) and drying hay in the sun and in shed

11. Fusarium species and fumonisins associated with maize kernels produced in Rio Grande do Sul State for the 2008/09 and 2009/10 growing seasons
Ear rots caused by Fusarium spp. are among the main fungal diseases that contribute to poor quality and the contamination of maize grains with mycotoxins. This study aimed to determine the visual incidence of fungal-damaged kernels (FDKs), the incidence of two main Gibberella (a teleomorph of Fusarium) complexes (G. fujikuroi and G. zeae) associated with mai
