1. The sedimentary record of wet and dry eolian systems in the Cretaceous of Southeast Brazil: stratigraphic and paleogeographic significance
Abstract Sedimentologic and stratigraphic studies of paleo-deserts from the Brazilian Cretaceous are of great potential to understand the paleoclimate and paleogeography of Gondwana during its final rifting stage. Herein, we describe and discuss two depositional units characterized by two distinct eolian systems that are bounded by a long-lived unconformity.

2. Seed distribution by punch seeder in family farming
Diante disso, as semeadoras puncionadoras

3. Physical, Chemical, and Microbiological Properties of Soil under Different Plant Covers in the Seridó Desertification Region in the Brazilian Semiarid
ABSTRACT The Seridó Desertification Region is a result of inadequate management of the native Caatinga vegetation, which generated degraded areas with little or no capacity for plant production. The area has experienced a succession of different land uses, but little is known about the impact of these changes. The present study tested the hypothesis that th

4. IDENTIFICATION OF DESERTIFICATION- SENSITIVE AREAS IN THE BRAZILIAN NORTHEAST THROUGH VEGETATION INDICES
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to identify areas susceptible to drought and under desertification in the Brazilian Northeast, more specifically in the states of Alagoas, Pernambuco, and Sergipe. The study was based on the 2000-2014 time period, relative frequency, Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) dataset derived from MOD13Q1 products (vegetation indices

5. Brazilian Science and Technology Policy and the Case of Embrapa Semiarid
Abstract This study focuses on Brazil’s international co-operation in science and technology (S&T), notably technical transfers to the semiarid branch of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) from the early 1990s onwards. It is based on interviews with Embrapa personnel, as well as literature and documentary reviews. It starts by outli

6. Soil health: looking for suitable indicators. What should be considered to assess the effects of use and management on soil health?
Soil Health refers to the ecological equilibrium and the functionality of a soil and its capacity to maintain a well balanced ecosystem with high biodiversity above and below surface, and productivity. To understand and use soil health as a tool for sustainability, physical, chemical, and biological properties must be employed to verify which respond to the

8. Florestas brancas do semiárido nordestino: desmatamento e desertificação no cariri paraibano.
Segundo a ONU, a desertificação é um tipo de degradação que ocorre nas áreas, áridas, semiáridas e subúmidas secas, resultante das mudanças climáticas e das atividades humanas. No Brasil, a região semiárida nordestina apresenta a primazia no desenvolvimento desse fenômeno. Desse modo, realizou-se nesse trabalho uma revisão dos processos histó

9. RECOMPOSIÇÃO VEGETAL UTILIZANDO A REGENERAÇÃO ARTIFICIAL, COM E SEM IRRIGAÇÃO, EM ÁREA CILIAR DO ALTO SERTÃO SERGIPANO. / RECOMPOSITION PLANT USING ARTIFICIAL REGENERATION, WITH AND WITHOUT IRRIGATION IN THE AREA CILIARY HIGH SERTÃO SERGIPE.
Although there are several fragments of vegetation in Semiarid, a lack of techniques for its recovery is observed. Most of the studies about degradation is based on the identification of the locations and degrees of desertification, and recovery practices are few, and when done, they only aim economic aspects, leaving the ecological in second plan. In this c
