1. Lipid Profile of Human Milk in Different Lactation Stages Submitted to Pasteurization, Lyophilization and Spray-Drying Processes
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of pasteurization, lyophilization and spray-drying on the lipid profile of donated human milk (DHM) at different lactation stages. Nine frozen samples of colostrum, transitional and raw mature human milk (HM) were collected from the Human Milk Bank (HMB) of the Hospital Universitário de Maringá (HUM).

2. Can intramammary infections change immunoglobulins and acute phase proteins of colostrum and transition milk in dairy goats?

3. Improving composition and microbiological characteristics of milk kefir using colostrum
Abstract Kefir characteristics are influenced by raw materials. Fresh milk and colostrum have different characteristics. In this research, colostrum was used as additional material in kefir production which could affect the chemical, microbiological, and antimicrobial properties of final the product. This study was aimed to investigate the chemical and micro

4. Bovine colostrum: benefits of its use in human food
Abstract Colostrum is the first secretion of the mammary gland produced after birth, differentiating itself from mature milk because it has a higher concentration of proteins, immunoglobulins, vitamins, minerals, bactericides (lactoferrin, lysozyme and lactoperoxidase) and growth factors. The use of bovine colostrum for human consumption has been registered

5. Developments of reproductive management and biotechnology in the pig
Abstract This review aims to describe changes in production environment, management tools and technology to alleviate problems seen with the present hyperprolific sow model. Successful parturition in the pig includes the possibility to express adequate maternal behaviour, rapid expulsion of piglets, complete expulsion of placenta, elimination of uterine cont

6. Sodium dodecyl sulfate as a viral inactivator and future perspectives in the control of small ruminant lentiviruses

7. Passive immune transfer, health, pre-weaning performance, and metabolism of dairy calves fed a colostrum supplement associated with medium-quality maternal colostrum
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate passive immunity transfer, health, performance, and metabolism of Holstein calves fed colostrum supplement associated with medium-quality colostrum. After birth, calves were blocked according to birth weight and date and distributed into the following treatments: high-quality colostrum (> 50 mg of Ig/mL; n

8. Additional feeding during late gestation improves initial litter weight of lactating sows exposed to high ambient temperature
ABSTRACT The present study investigated the impacts of additional feeding (AF; containing 16% excess feed than control diet in the last two weeks of gestation) during late gestation period and different backfat thickness (BFT) including low (<20 mm) and high (≥20 mm) backfat on reproductive performance, litter size, blood metabolites, hormonal profiles, co

10. Evaluation of the Lipid Quality of Lyophilized Pasteurized Human Milk for Six Months by GC-FID and ESI-MS
Human milk (HM) lipids provide about 50% energy and facilitate the transport and absorption of fat-soluble vitamins for infants, but their composition should be studied when the milk is processed. This study evaluated the lipid quality of lyophilized and vacuum-packed colostrum (C), transitional (T), and mature (M) HM for a period of 1, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150,

12. Effect of feeding heat-treated and unheated colostrum on immunoglobulin G absorption, health and performance of neonatal Holstein dairy calves
ABSTRACT. First colostrum is an important source of nutrients and immune factors which are necessary for calves in the first weeks of life. Despite these benefits, colostrum can also represent one of the earliest potential exposures of dairy calves to infectious agents which these patogens can act directly on growth and cause diseases such as scours or septi
