1. Early fragmentation of polyester urethane sheet neither causes persistent oxidative stress nor alters the outcome of normal tissue healing in rat skin
Abstract Silicone breast implant is associated with complications inherent to the surgical procedure. Prosthesis coating with polyurethane, however, commonly reduces the incidence of such complications. In this paper, the authors evaluated the inflammatory histomorphometric profile and oxidative damage associated to the implant of polyester urethane sheets.

2. Cutaneous metastasis of a breast cancer diagnosed 13 years before
AbstractMetastasis is defined as a neoplastic lesion originating from another primary tumor, with which it is no longer in contact. Cutaneous metastases result from lymphatic embolization, hematogenous or contiguous dissemination or also direct implantation during surgical procedures. In women, the tumor most likely to metastasize to skin is breast cancer, w

In a study performed at the field level by sector, we studied the effect of different levels of fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the growth of Eucalyptus urograndis in relation to diameter at breast height (DBH), total height (H) and increase annual average (IMA m3.ha-1). The work was carried out at New District, Cuiaba Paulista-SP, i

6. Uso do silicone e poliuretano na uretroplastia dorsal: estudo experimental em coelhos / The silicone and polyurethane used in dorsal on lay urethroplasty: experimental study in rabbits
BACKGROUND: Actually, the treatment of urethral stenosis employs biological grafts, usually autologous grafts. The success with synthetic biomaterials in others medical specialtys motivated the search of these materials in urethral reconstruction. The knowledge about the silicone mamarian prosthesis covered with polyurethane foam reduces capsular contracture

9. Morphological changes induced by testosterone in the mammary glands of female Wistar rats
Increased levels of androgens in postmenopausal women are considered to be a risk factor for breast cancer. Testosterone, alone or in combination with estrogen, induces epithelial dysplasia and mammary tumors in Noble rats. Since this model of hormone-induced neoplasia has not been reported in other rat strains, we studied the effect of testosterone on the m

10. Capsular contraction following immediate reconstructive surgery for breast cancer – An association with methylene blue dye
Capsular contraction following implantation of breast prostheses occurs in 2–33% of patients undergoing breast augmentation. This condition can be debilitating for patients, and often requires revisional surgery. The aetiology of capsular contraction is unclear, but may be due to infection, haematoma or foreign body-type reactions.

11. Antinuclear antibodies and breast implants.
Anecdotal reports have linked silicone breast implants to autoimmune diseases, with scleroderma being mentioned most often. In view of other environmental influences--such as silica mining and the toxic oil syndrome--thought to predispose to scleroderma, more systematic immunologic information on women with silicone implants is needed to assess any possible

12. Complications from injectable materials used for breast augmentation
Fewer surgical procedures have a history as fascinating and as terrifying as breast augmentation. Initial efforts at augmentation involved injection of substances such as paraffin or oil into the breast tissue, or the implantation of substances including ivory or glass balls, or rubber. More recent efforts have included the injection of liquid silicone or po
