1. Aspergillus niger: A Hundred Years of Contribution to the Natural Products Chemistry
Aspergillus niger is a phytopathogenic fungus responsible for the plant disease called “black mold”, and it is considered the most versatile microorganism for producing acids, proteins, and enzymes of industrial value, besides a variety of compounds of pharmacological interest. This review presents a century of contribution of A. niger in the natural pro

2. ENDOPHYTIC FUNGI FROM THE BRAZILIAN FLORA AND THEIR EMPLOYMENT IN BIOTRANSFORMATION REACTIONS
The biotransformation reactions are used as a successful alternative to derivatization by the traditional chemistry because they conduct to uncommon reactions, which would hardly be carried out by chemical synthesis. A wide diversity of compounds may be metabolized by fungi, leading to chemical derivatives through selective reactions that work under ecofrien

3. Optimization of liquid fermentation conditions for biotransformation zein by Cordyceps militaris 202 and characterization of physicochemical and functional properties of fermentative hydrolysates
Abstract Cordyceps militaris 202 is a potential fungus for biotransformation zein, due to its various proteases, high tolerance and viability in nature. In this article, single factor experiment and response surface methodology were applied to optimize the liquid fermentation conditions and improve the ability of biotransformation zein. The optimized ferment

4. Incidence of aflatoxin M1 in fresh milk from small farms
Abstract The objective of this work was to determine aflatoxin M1 in fresh milk from fifty-two small farms in the city of Concórdia - SC, Brazil. Samples from the cooling tanks of each property were collected from November 2014 to January 2015. The QuEChERS method was used for the extraction of aflatoxin M1, and quantification was performed in UHPLC-FL. 40.

5. A New Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitor from Green Glycosylation of Trachyloban-19-oic Acid by Mucor plumbeus
ABSTRACT The in vitro metabolism of a widespread natural product, trachyloban-19-oic acid (1), by the fungal species Mucor plumbeus was studied in a sucrose-yeast liquid medium. Two products were isolated, and their structures were determined by spectroscopic means as 7β-hydroxytrachyloban-19-oic acid (5) and trachyloban-19-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (6).

6. Biotransformation of bromhexine by Cunninghamella elegans, C. echinulata and C. blakesleeana
Abstract Fungi is a well-known model used to study drug metabolism and its production in in vitro condition. We aim to screen the most efficient strain of Cunninghamella sp. among C. elegans, C. echinulata and C. blakesleeana for bromhexine metabolites production. We characterized the metabolites produced using various analytical tools and compared them with

7. Multiple Monohydroxylation Products from rac-Camphor by Marine Fungus Botryosphaeria sp. Isolated from Marine Alga Bostrychia radicans
This manuscript describes the biooxidation of rac-camphor using whole cells of marine-derived fungus Botryosphaeria sp. CBMAI 1197. The main biotransformation products of this monoterpene were achieved via a hydroxylation reaction and occurred with 5 days of rac-camphor incubation. Products were identified by means of gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC

8. POTENCIAL CATALÍTICO DE LIPASES LIGADAS AO MICÉLIO DE FUNGOS FILAMENTOSOS EM PROCESSOS DE BIOTRANSFORMAÇÃO
Over the past decades, mycelium-bound lipase of filamentous fungus has been extensively studied as an alternative biocatalyst in biotransformation processes. Mycelium-bound lipase can be used directly as suspended free cells or immobilized within biomass support particles as whole cells biocatalyst. In the latter, cells can be immobilized in situ or extra si

9. Screening of freshwater fungi for decolorizing multiple synthetic dyes
Abstract The biodegradation of synthetic dyes by fungi is emerging as an effective and promising approach. In the present study, freshwater fungal strains isolated from submerged woods were screened for the decolorization of 7 synthetic dyes. Subsequently, 13 isolates with high decolorization capability were assessed in a liquid system; they belonged to 9 di

10. Enzyme kinetic modelling and analytical solution of nonlinear rate equation in the transformation of D-methionine into L-methionine in batch reactor using the new homotopy perturbation method
A mathematical model of biotransformation of D-methionine into L-methionine in the cascade of the enzymes such as, D-amino acid oxidase (D-AAO), L-phenylalanine dehydrogenase (L-PheDH) and formate dehydrogenase (FDH) is discussed. The model is based on a system of coupled nonlinear reaction equations under non steady-state conditions for biochemical reaction

11. Enzymatic potential of heterotrophic bacteria from a neutral copper mine drainage
Abstract Copper mine drainages are restricted environments that have been overlooked as sources of new biocatalysts for bioremediation and organic syntheses. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the enzymatic activities (esterase, epoxide hydrolase and monooxygenase) of 56 heterotrophic bacteria isolated from a neutral copper mine drainage (Sossego Mine,
