1. Evaluation of autolysis induced histologic alterations in skeletal muscle tissue of non-traditional meat animals
Abstract Raw meat is characterized by various natural cellular processes that lead to its chemical content alteration. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate autolysis induced histologic alterations in skeletal muscle tissue of cow elk. In this study the authors used skeletal muscle tissue of 2-year-old cow elk. The tissue was sampled from m. quadri

2. Imobilização enzimática: conceito e efeitos na proteólise
In recent years, great advances have been observed in the proteomic area regarding the different approaches adopted as top-down, middle-down and bottom-up. Regarding middle-down and bottom-up approaches, a previous step for protein digestion is necessary for further analysis of the generated peptides. Classical digestion protocols employing proteases are usu

4. Cattle diseases in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil: a 24-year survey (1995-2018)

5. Lysosome: The Story Beyond the Storage
Abstract Since Christian de Duve first described the lysosome in the 1950s, it has been generally presented as a membrane-bound compartment containing acid hydrolases that enables the cell to degrade molecules without being digested by autolysis. For those working on the field of lysosomal storage disorders, the lack of one such hydrolase would lead to undeg

6. Extracción optimizada y purificación parcial de invertasa aislada de S. Cerevisiae en puré de durazno
Abstract The extraction was performed using an autolysis process where enzymes degrade cell structures and release the cytoplasmic contents to the extracellular medium. The autolysis process was carried out in shake flasks with different agitation speeds (50 - 350 rpm) and the concentration of sodium bicarbonate (50 -350 mM NaHCO3) at 40 ° C for 24 hours, u

7. Identifying yeast isolated from spoiled peach puree and assessment of its batch culture for invertase production
Abstract The identification of yeasts isolated from spoiled Jubileu peach puree using the API 20C AUX method and a commercial yeast as witness were studied. Subsequently, the yeast’s growth potential using two batch culture treatments were performed to evaluate number of colonies (N), reducing sugar concentration (RS), free-invertase (FI), and culture-inve

8. Acinar autolysis and mucous extravasation in human sublingual glands: a microscopic postmortem study
Although some morphological investigations on aged human sublingual glands (HSG) found eventual phenomena identified as autolysis and mucous extravasation, the exact meaning of these findings has not been elucidated. Objective The aim of this work is to investigate whether acinar autolysis and mucous extravasation are related to the aging process in human

9. Morphology and morphometry of the human sublingual glands in mouth floor enlargements of edentulous patients
Asymptomatic mouth floor enlargements may be observed in edentulous patients. These masses, which protrude from the mouth floor, may complicate the fitting of dentures and require surgery. Whether this "entity" may be considered an anatomical variation of the mouth floor or represent specific alterations in the sublingual gland is not known. Objective: Th

10. Population dynamics of mixed cultures of yeast and lactic acid bacteria in cider conditions
The objective of this work was to study the malolactic bioconversion in low acidity cider, according Brazilian conditions. The apple must was inoculated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae or S. cerevisiae with Oenococcus oeni. The control contained the indigenous microorganisms. Fermentation assays were carried out with clarified apple must from the Gala variety.

11. Effect of pH and salt gradient on the autolysis of Lactococcus lactis strains
The aim of this work was to assess in-vitro the effect of pH and salt concentration on the rate of autolysis in L. lactis strains. Regardless autolysis variation among L. lactis strains, statistical analysis showed evidence of increase of autolysis in L. lactis under low salt concentration and acidic conditions.

12. Improvement in RNA extraction from S. cerevisie by optimization in the autolysis and NH3 hydrolysis
The optimization of autolysis of Saccharomyces cerevisiae from brewery was studied aiming at the maximum ribonucleic acid extraction and yeast extract production. The best conditions for yeast autolysis was 55.2ºC, pH= 5.1 and 9.8% NaCl for 24h of processing, without the NH3 use. In these conditions, the RNA yield was 89.7%, resulting in 51.3% of dehydrated
