RESUMO

The discarding of materials by the humanity is increasing. Cultural, economic and population factors contribute for volumetric formation of these materials. To minimize the effect of the accumulation of these materials in the garbage deposits, public politics must be implemented to enlarge the recycling of inorganic materials and the composting of the organic materials. One of these materials that are already discarded for the garbage deposits is the material that comes from the pruning and removal of the trees located in the streets, avenues, central seedbeds and squares. This pruning and/or removal occur due to diverse types of existing conflicts between this vegetation and the urban equipments. The urban trees, as well as the vegetal elements that are part of the urban gardening contribute to the environmental balance and the urban population welfare. Being located in urban areas, this vegetation needs periodic replacements, so it is necessary to product sufficient amounts of these vegetables to supply such demand. To produce these vegetables, the ideal is the use of materials that are sustainable and that its production doesnt be harmful to the environment, as for example the exploitation of the agricultural soil for the production of substrates. With the objective of making the use of this residue possible, composting furrows were mounted with this triturated material. The furrows were monitored, with temperature checking, besides being plowed and watered periodically, after about 100 days the material were taken from the furrows, dried outdoor and stored. To test the compost, an experiment in which two ornamental species (Acalypha wilkesiana m.Arg. e Thunbergia erecta T.Anders) propagated by cuttings were used was mounted using the following substrates: 100% soil, 100% pruning compost, 100% commercial substrate, 30% of streets and avenues cleaning residues + 70% pruning compost, 40% clay substrate + 60% pruning compost and 30% sand + 70% pruning compost, after evaluating the biometric parameters, it was evidenced that the substrates with the bigger percentage of pruning compost had the better results.
