RESUMO

The main objective of this research was to show the life history of the oldest former mayor of Brazil. The writings of Giddens (2002) were used to demonstrate the interference of modernity in the lives of human beings and Beauvoir (1990) and Bosi (1994) intertwine the aging, a fact that further demonstrates how the old social minorities. As Mr Susumo was Japanese, it was necessary to present the Japanese immigration to Brazil, all its history, as wall as their beliefs and moral principles that after more than 100 years of immigration, some principles have changed little with the concept of shame, presented by Benedict (2009) who showed the western part of Eastern thought, as are their rules, customs and beliefs. The following is professions in which age is a positive factor in them, old age is not synonymous with impairment or disease. I tried to show the trajectories of recognition of professions in which the recognition and old can walk together. The methodology was based on life history and reflective (Szymanski,2000). The trajectory of Susumo Itimura was marked by hard work and struggle to accomplish his dream of being a farmer, tied to the dream of making Uraí prosper, the social area was a constant concern of politics, these were the assumptions of the five mandates, the last of which began in 2008 with the award to Mr Susumo so proud to be the oldest mayor in Brazil, in this same mandate to 93 years, the research subject was faced with a fact that perhaps he did give up all. In June 2011 the former mayor was impeached, ashamed decided to go into exile at his farm in Paraguay, the weakness in all it faces ( biological, psychological and social) took care ok the elderly who until then was seen an a winner and in just three months of bitterness and shame, Susumo died
