Significado de acupuntura por usuários de um serviço de atendimento em Saúde / The Acupuncture meanings by patients of an ambulatory Health Service

RESUMO
The Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine modality of treatment, based on the human body energy balance by specific points, distributed in meridians formed for a structure that establishes connection with the whole body, where the needles are duly applied through the skin. Its origin is esteem in 4th Century B.C. in the eastern and only in the 19th Century it comes to western world as registers in literature. From 1970 to nowadays, U.S.A., France and also Brazil it gets practitioners. This study has had as starting point our observations during the activities of training student supervision in an Acupuncture specialization course, developed in a clinical school ambulatory. The general aim of this study was to identify and to analyze the meanings of Acupuncture attributed by a group of users of a health service. To reach this objective we develop a qualitative study approach with a group of patients of a clinical school of Acupuncture. The data had been collected by means of semi-structured interviews, which speeches were transcribed and organized to precede the content analysis thematic modality. The results had been presented and argued at three moments. In the first one we present the characteristics of the institution and, in the second one, about the subjects of the study. In third one, the data had been analyzed by the thematic category "the meanings of the Acupuncture", where are implicit the four nuclei of sense: "the interest for Acupuncture", "the sources of indication", "the option for the treatment", and "the meaning of the Acupuncture". In a general way, the speeches shows that the Acupuncture meaning is constructed from informative elements received by health service professionals, media or other people without technique formation, but they believe on its potential cure. Thus, it was possible to identify through the subjects speeches the meanings that they attribute to the Acupuncture and its expectations for the treatment, factors these that contribute a better health care assistance by this treatment modality.
