Saberes necessários ao professor : uma aproximação do conceito de autonomia e de suas implicações para o desenvolvimento da profissão docente.

RESUMO
This research had its objective to investigate teachers representations of the necessary knowledge to their professional qualification. For doing so, we departed from discourses produced in the everyday life of teachers relating the necessary knowledge consideredimportant to be recognized as a good teacher. Trying to understand how teacherss selfguidance may be developed was the hardcore of our research. The new reference of teachers kowledge prescribe by the official discourse, dating from the promulgation of de Guidance and Basis for National Education (Law n 9394/96) played na important role in our trying to undestand how teachers s qualification interacts with legal regulations. Our fieldwork was developed in the city of Pintadas-BA, a choice guided by the inherent particulatities of the case and of their possibilities of generatinf more general interpretations. The choice of investigatinf elementary schools teachers derived from the idtification that it was this level of Bra education which was chosen by the government to recieve special attention and high sums of investiments from the ninities onwards. Our most important references, in the field of teachersqualification, werw the studies by Tardif (2002, 2002) and Gauthier (1998). The methodolog used has it roots in Social Psychology and Anthropology, specially the Theory of social representations. Among the research instrument used for collecting data, we urderline the use of focal groups and docuental analyss of materal conidered relevant to compose the social context of the teachers. Results of ou researchwork discuss formulated hypothesis about the subjects level of knowledge necessary to qualify a teacher and the reinvidication of the teachers related to the domain of the necessary and specialized knowledge for promoting self-guided exercice of ther profession.
