RESUMO

Currently there are many ways of professional development during one#s graduation on an university. However, theres one way that is standing out amongst others in the academic scene: the junior enterprise. Structured as place for applying the knowledge acquired during the academic formation as well as realizing activities on the labour market, the dissemination of the junior enterprise concept is growing more and more between the graduates and the universities. Constituted by graduates searching for both professional and personal development, the junior enterprise works as a link between the graduate and the labour market. In this light, its important to understand how the development of the competencies and academic formation of the participants happen in this kind of organization. The objective of this research is to investigate how this happens by being part of a psychology junior enterprise. The research#s sample was formed by 10 graduates that initiated their activities on the enterprise in 2007. The data collection was made through indirect observation, secondary resources such as: documents of the company that made the selective process; notes from the recruitment and selection training; and the tables of the developed projects and the primary resources: individual interviews with the graduates themselves. Trough their reports it was verified the perception of the development of the graduates# competencies such as: freedom on actions, incentive of the creativity and the innovation of process and methods, incentive of seeking new knowledge, learning through practice and learning from mistakes. It was discovered that the lack of guidance and support is one of the factors that limit the developing of the competencies.
