Os novos modos de cuidar da criança cronicamente enferma: a construção de uma nova relação entre a mãe cuidadora e a equipe interdisciplinar

RESUMO

This study was due to the daily life of caretakers mothers with chronically ill children, considering the difficulties in proving the health care to their children, regarding their material, personal and interaction with health care staff. Ten caretaker mothers having children of both sexes participated in this study. The mothers were selected in a state public childrens hospital and were performing specialized tasks regarding chronically ill pacients care for at least three months. Four guiding questions were done to investigate mother caretaking.They were valuated through a qualitative approach based on Heiddegers thought.The following categories could be extracted from the caretakers speeches: loneliness, watchful state, separation from relatives and friends, absence of a supporting service, miracle searching, continuous unfulfillment of the mothers task (as seen by the health care staff) identify absence (of the caretaker), strengthening of the dependency links between the child and its caretakers mother and caretaking as a way to face the outside world. The results revealed emotional and rational experiences felt by the caretakers mothers, specially concerning to the difficulties in treatment compliance by the children, to the faillure of communication with relatives or with health care staff and to the absence of general health public policies to accommodate the chronical ill
