RESUMO

This work describes the operation of NSINKS, a protocol based ont DESRO protocol, that has the feature of working with more than one sink node and allows dynamic route management in a Wireless Sensor Network. A comparison between protocols NSINKS and DESRO was performed, using the Sinalgo simulator, that showed that the use of multiple sink nodes can increase the network lifetime. The presented results showed that NSINKS protocol has a better performance than DESRO protocol, due to the use of more than one sink node that provided a packet traffic balance among the multiple sink nodes, splitling the load for sensors in the neighborhood of the sink nodes. With this balanced traffic, the sensor nodes in the neighborhood of sink nodes exhausted their energy more slowly, avoiding the loss of communication with the sink nodes and the total loss of their energy, for the analyzed scenarios.
