RESUMO

This thesis presents an analysis on the historical transformations in the afro-Brazilian religions (Candomblé and Umbanda) in São Paulo and Maceió, at period 1970 up to 2000. In it was looked to analyze such transformations in its internal and external relations, of the terreiros and tents between itself and with the social environment, economic politician and where they were inserted. Most excellent those had been identified as the transformations that say respect: (1) to the relations established with the spaces and the public institutions, sacred and profane in the great city; (2) to the increase of the persecution on the part of the neopentecostais churches; (3) to the folclorização of the religions afro-Brazilians; (4) to the internal conflicts regarding the access to the secrets of the cults and the transmission of the magician-religious knowledge; (5) to the changes and adaptations carried through in the rituals express afro-Brazilians as contradictions between tradition and the liturgical innovation and the paper of the masculine and feminine sorts in them; e, (6) increase of action of valuation and rescue of the memory and history of the black religious presence in these places. The central idea defended on such transformations would be of that the concern of its leaderships with the loss or in addition axé, that is, on the possibility of reproduction in long stated period of the religions afro-Brazilians, it could not be understood without taking in consideration the structural elements of the same ones, a time that the cosmovisão and the religious ideology afro-Brazilian, had consisted in Brazil as continued recreations. In them the ruptures of process, the confrontamentos and the fight politics for the existence of the cults, kept a renovator creativity of the forms (strategies) as these religions if they had established and if they manteram in the urban spaces north-eastern and the Southeast. On the other hand, the processes of urbanization and capitalist modernization in São Paulo and Maceio had tended to speed up such changes and to create unreliability on the cult models that could be adjusted to these environments. The historical study of such religions it would have to take in account the symbolic forces and ideological express in its mythologies, as explicative metaphors of its mechanisms of religious functioning, constructed and reconstructed continuously. Finally, to if affirming and reflecting the historicity of the religions afro-Brazilians one expects to constitute references for its study and the deconstructions of subalterniations and the racist conceptions still revilements in the Brazilian historiography.
