RESUMO

With intention to populate, to occupy the considered spaces empty and to promote the small property were created in 1943, the National Agricultural Dourados Colony (CAND), during the New State, in the South region of Mato Grosso. The CAND was inserted in the context of March for West and in the politics of nationalization of the frontiers. The creation of the Colony, not only for its singular characteristic to represent state investments not seen until then in the region, but, over all, for account of the intense migration for the south region of the state, supplied population and economic growth. The aim of this work was to study who was the colonist who participated of the implantation of the CAND, but, over all, in the perspective of the colonists, and not of the State. Especially with special emphasis in his origin, the reasons that he had made to migrate for the region, and the way of life that he brought for the Colony. To know as it was to be and to live in the colonist condition, is relevant, in the certainty of that the colonist who if became the basic part in the implantation of the CAND, and that defined the direction of this initiative of settling. To study who they were the character who they had engaged in this enterprise, in the certainty of that their way to think and their expectations had been essential in the definition of the tacks of this initiative and for the proper expansion of the agricultural frontier
